Knitting Gifts
You have probably received an ugly knitted gift from someone at some time or another. Most everyone has received something from "Aunt Someone" or another fanatic knitter family member.
It makes you a little leary of knitting a gift for someone else that they may not like. Well, if you just keep a few things in mind when you're choosing something to make for someone, you can come up with some really nice, meaningful gifts.
First, pay attention to what the other person's tastes are. If you want to make a scarf or hat, notice what colors and styles that person wears. With so many colors and types of yarn to choose from, it will be really easy to make something that will suit the person you want to give it to.
Second, give gifts that are useful to most people. Gloves and mittens are always handy to have. If gloves are more complicated than you want, try some fingerless gloves. They are really fashionable right now and can be very handy to have. Some other items might be wash cloths, dish rags or potholders. Pay attention to the colors and styles of that person's home and you can make something that they will really enjoy using if it matches up with the things they love.
Another great gift idea is a knitting kit. If you know someone who doesn't know how to knit and would like to learn, a basket or tote with yarn, needles and easy beginner patterns would make a unique gift. Be sure to include a "coupon" for free knitting lessons - from you, of course. For the person who already knits, how about buying them several skeins of some really nice (like alpaca or mohair) yarn in some new colors and putting it in a nice knitting tote?
Baby gifts are always useful. Blankets, soft knitted wash rags and baby booties are things that can always be used. If you know the nursery theme or style, you can keep your gifts in that style and they will be really appreciated.
Hopefully, you will find some great and unique ideas for gifts and can give a handmade gift that will be really special for someone to receive.
